IF YOU HAD 1 MONTH TO LIVE, WHAT TRAVEL PLANS WOULD YOU TICK OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

Okay everybody, lets set the scene, you have 1-month left of your life. You’re clearly in shock and lost for words, but then you ask yourself “hmm, what can I possibly do to live my life to the absolute fullest with no regrets?”.

I WANT TO FEEL FREE

Yep, the first thing I would be ticking off my bucket list is experiencing bungee jumping/sky diving & being in a hot air balloon. Mind you I have never experienced any of these 3 things, so I think this would definitely be memorable to say the least. I could just imagine bungee jumping off he highest mountain in the world & thinking I feel free! Well this is of coarse after I have landed. I could just picture myself beforehand having a mini heart attack & sweating so much that my pants would be fully soaked (how embarrassing).

MY FAM & FRIENDS

Clearly If I had 1 month left, I would want to spend every last second with the people who mean the most to me. I would go to a destination overseas that I have never been to before. I would love to go somewhere that is full of adventures, breath taking views and food that will make me want to demolish it in 0.1 of a second. The hard part is trying to decide what country to go too!!

                                 VISIT MY BACKGROUND

For those of you who don’t know me I am half Greek and half Russian (When I tell people my background they say wow what a mix, I hear it every time I say those words) Anyway, I would definitely travel to Greece and Russia. I think it’s important for anyone to see how their family grew up & what the culture is like in their own country. Visiting my roots would be something that I would forever hold close to my heart. But boy oh boy, I would smash down 10 kebabs in Greece in a heartbeat. Greece would be great for memories but not so good for my stomach.

ANTARCTICA

I am saving the best place til last, Antarctica. This is definitely something I would love to tick off my bucket list. Could you guys just imagine the millions of stories you would have to tell you about Antarctica? You will not not only have so many stories to share but  could you imagine all of the activities you could do over there. You could see penguins close up, kayaking & camping, swimming in the bay it self and most importantly having the scenic views of Antarctica. I feel like I am convincing myself to go there right now!!!!

OVERALL

Overall If I had 1 month to live, there would definitely be a lot of things I would want to tick off my bucket list. This question has made me realise you only have 1 life to live & we don’t know when our journey will end. So sit down & make a list of all the things you would want to tick off your bucket list. Just don’t be afraid to LIVE, that is why we’re here  in the first place right?

What would be your travel plans if you only had 1 month to live?

4 TOP TIPS & TRICKS TO MAKE THE MOST OUT OF YOUR HOLIDAY

HAVE POSITIVE & GOOD VIBES

Being positive and having good vibes around you is obviously going to make your holiday a whole heap better. I mean your going on a holiday of coarse you want to feel happy all the time! Although I definitely understand life happens and when life happens those positive vibes can suddenly turn in to negative vibes. Factors include: jetlag, being home sick, adjusting to other destinations and many more. These things we can’t control but what you can do is find ways to handle the situation and make a light of the situation.

YOUR FINANCES

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Just to clarify I am NOT an accountant & besides I don’t think any of you would trust me being your accountant anyway, I mean I cant even do basic maths without a calculator… that says enough right?

So your finance obviously plays a huge part in your holiday. My recommendation to all of you is to make sure you have enough money saved for your holiday, I would hate for you to go to on a holiday cant experience the full package of your holiday because your restricted with your finances.  You might ask, how much is “enough” money, well ask yourself these questions:

  1. How expensive is the destination your going to? What’s the currency like ?
  2. Have you already decided what activities you are wanting to do? (If you have, well you can pay for this before hand & you won’t be needing as much spending money if your jam packed with activities)
  3. Does your hotels, flights including food? This will cut down your spending money as it has already been provided for you.
  4. Google is your best friend – this can give you a rough estimate how much you need, how much others spend etc.

Also don’t go splurging all of your money on the first couple of days, I know you might have that mindset, “I am on holiday who cares”, this is partially true but I believe there is a limit and you have to think of the bigger picture. Think to yourself “Should I buy those $1000 shoes or should I save it in case something else pops up”? My mother always tells me, make sure to save for a rainy day…

DOWNLOAD APPS

So you’re at your holiday destination & you think to yourself, how do I get to the destination? How much is 10 Australian dollars in US dollars? What the heck are they talking about in their language ? Well to cover all these topics and make it easier for you, download a few apps to guide you along the way and make this holiday destination stress free as possible. Download a currency app, a translator app & a GPS (or use your phone). DONT FORGET TO CONNECT TO WIFI OR BUY INTERNET !!!! Who wants to be stuck with thousands of internet bills back home, what a nightmare.

BREATH IN THE CULTURE, BE DARING & MAKE THE MOST OF IT.

A holiday is to relax, get away for a while and also make unforgettable memories. If you’re going on a holiday destination that you have never been too before ensure you make the most of every second. Step out of your comfort zone. Maybe you have never been skydiving? Well try skydiving. Maybe you have never climbed a mountain? Well climb that mountain. There are so many things I can think of on the top of my head. If you want to make memories that will be forever stuck in your mind, do things that will challenge yourself. Even the smallest step will make a huge difference ! Go on everyone step up to the plate and make those memories count 🙂

Let me know any other ideas & tips that can make your holiday as adventurous and memorable as possible 🙂 Don’t be shy !!!!

DINING IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD

Food!Food!Food! Food is what brings people together, food is what makes me happy & most importantly food is the key to my heart ❤

A GOOD OLD EGGS BENEDICT – NOOSA HEADS

If your ever in Australia make your way down to the beautiful city of Noosa Heads, there’s lots to see & clearly lots to eat. This delicious eggs benny was served to me at a awesome cafe called “RAW ENERGY”. I am drooling just looking at this photo!

AMSTERDAM

I am in food heaven guys ! The photo on the left is a scrumptious chocolate waffle covered with whipped cream (my favourite) topped with strawberries and sprinkled with chocolate. I demolished that in 0.1 of a second ! It’s like I can taste it in my mouth right now, it was heavenly. The photo on the right is a club sandwich from a pub down in Amsterdam, it literally had 3 layers of bread with heaps of fillings inside ! It was amazing but safe to say I was definitely full by the end of it (Although I did eat that chocolate waffle right after….)

NEW CALEDONIA/MYSTERY ISLAND/VANUATU CRUISE

To be honest I didn’t want to wreck the design of these 2 meals, but both of the meals tasted absolutely delicious. Unfortunately I didn’t write down the names of these 2 meals but I do remember that dessert being absoultey incredible.

THAILAND – DAY CRUISE

It was our final day in Thailand & we experienced a day cruise of canoeing and seeing all of the breathaking caves around the island. On the cruise they offered a lunch Buffett with so many options to choose from, fried rice, lobster, stir fry, fish & fruit platters. It was just what we needed after a long and hard day of trying to get the right angles for photos.

ITALYANO

Why go to Italy if you won’t even try there famous pizza? This pizza was so delicious, it was covered with endless amounts of cheese & tomato topped with basil. One word for this pizza — Bellissimo.

PARIS – THE CITY OF FOOD

To the left of the photo is snails which had a creamy garlic favour to it. Surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad, but just the thought of me eating a snail was crazy enough. The photo on the right is of coarse a Paris baguette it was delicious to eat. Yum!!

My biggest recommondation for you all is to try out other delicacies of the world. If you really want to experience another countries culture, just take a bite out of the snail or whatever it may be, breath in there culture as much as possible !

What types of food or delicacies have you eaten before? Please share with me as I would love to see what I can try next 🙂

WHERE WOULD YOU TRAVEL, IF YOU HAD 1 MILLION DOLLARS?

JUST IMAGINE ….

Waking up in the morning and getting ready for work. It’s just another day nothing too exciting happening and then BAM out of the blue you get a call saying you have won 1 million dollars to travel the world!! How would you react? What would be your thought process? I know for a fact I would be so speechless & shocked that I would faint (from being overly excited of course).

SWITZERLAND WITH A FIRST CLASS TICKET

If I had 1 million buckeroonies, the first thing I would do is book a first class ticket to my all time favourite country in the world SWITZERLAND. I would pay for all my loved ones to travel along with me.  I know for a fact, we would just have a blast seeing all of the beautiful scenic views, making snow men and just taking in the nature of Switzerland. I would book a hotel or bungalow right next to the river which would be overlooking the beautiful mountains that are filled with endless amounts of pure white snow. It would be a dream to re-live that moment again.

GIVING BACK TO 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES

Giving back to 3rd world countries is something that would be a great thing to do. If you have all of this money sitting in your bank account, it’s great to splurge and indulge but it would also be a wonderful thing to give back to the community. You will make great memories along the way and you will also feel a sense of happiness knowing you have changed someones life for the better. To give back to the community you could join a volunteer program & go to 3rd world countries or you could even start up your own program! There are many ways to put your own ideas and thoughts in to place and make a difference.

GOING TO FANCY DINNERS & CRUISES ALL AROUND THE WORLD

**The photo in the bottom right corner is called Birds Nest Soup, it’s a delicacy in Chinese Cuisine**

If I had 1 million dollars I would travel to all different destinations of the world and eat at fancy 5 star restaurants. I would just love to feel like royalty, even if it was only for a short period of time. It would just be amazing to explore different cities but also try out there delicacy. What a dream!!  I would also book high end lunch/dinner cruises and travel along the river eating my lobster and caviar as I am looking outside of the window surrounded with breathtaking and scenic views. Guys, all of this luxurious talk is making me want to buy a lotto ticket as we speak!!!

maxresdefault

Share with everyone your thoughts & ideas on where you would love to travel if you had 1 million dollars ! Be as adventurous as possible. Think outside the box & be creative with your thoughts, who knows maybe one day your adventurous mind will take you there 🙂

MELBOURNE – 4 SEASONS IN 1 DAY

Have you ever been to a destination that literally has 4 weather seasons in 1 day? If you haven’t experienced Winter, Summer, Autumn and Spring all  in one day, pack your belongings & head over to the beautiful city of Melbourne in Australia.

WHY SHOULD YOU TRAVEL TO MELBOURNE?

In December 2016, I decided to take a quick trip to Melbourne for a few days. Melbourne is definitely the place to be, you have your fancy restaurants, top quality cafes, beaches close to the city and the nightlife is endless. You may of heard the saying, “Melbourne is the most liveable city in the world”, personally I think this saying lives up the expectation.

HOW TO GET AROUND TOWN?

Melbourne has many transport options. If you want to to get from A to B, you can either catch a tram, train or bus. You will need to purchase a “Myki card” & top it up with money. But remember to read the signs because you don’t need to pay for some zones in Melbourne (How awesome is that? Yay to free transport!!!!)

Also if you are from out of state and your losing your Melbourne virginity, I would definitely recommend buying a hop on hop off bus tour. This bus tour is so convenient because it takes you around the “tourist spots” in Melbourne. You can literally hop on and off anytime you want.

THE BEST SPOTS TO GO & EXPLORE

— CHINA TOWN —

A popular destination you must see whilst in Melbourne is China Town. China town has delicious restaurants, entertainment and shops everywhere you look. When I explored China Town, I took my hop on/hop off bus tour and got off at the China Town stop, how convenient !

— ST KILDA PIER —

I explored St Kilda pier on my last day in Melbourne and let me tell you guys the views are absolutely amazing at sunset. It’s just breathtaking, you feel so relaxed and at ease. These views are a great aspect to the St Kilda Pier but the list does goes on. The St Kilda Pier also has penguin viewing every night of the year, they usually come after sunset.

— MELBOURNE CITY —

My only advise for Melbourne City: You will need a map!

WOW- that was my first reaction when you go in to the city,  there are shops literally left right and centre. When I first went into Melbourne city I was lost, I just didn’t know where to start. There is so much to see & eat its amazing. Safe to say you won’t get bored!

— THE LANEWAYS —

A must see thing to do in Melbourne is go have a look at the laneways, it’s a great way to take in the beautiful artwork  and take a few  selfies along the way. Now, If your all selfied out for the day, you can go grab a bite to eat in the laneways, there are several cafes and restaurant all along the strip. This just seems like an ideal world, you have your art work and food all in one spot !

— LUNA PARK —

IMG_8230

Luna park is an amusement park, which is a great way to go and spend a fun family day out. When I went to Melbourne, unfortunately I didn’t go Luna Park as I had so many other activities planned, although I did travel past it with my hop on hop off ticket. If you have kids or even if your an adult (a kid at heart) go visit the theme park and make a day of it!

— EUREKA SKYDECK 88 —

Are you that type of person that wants to take photos of absolutely everything, well join the group! I know the perfect place to take photos from sky high and literally see Melbourne from a birds eye view. Buy a ticket to Eureka Skydeck 88. It has amazing views that you can capture. Whilst I was at the top I also experienced the edge glass box experience. You are literally in a glass box with a few other people hanging from the side of the city. Thrilling experiencing but defintley nerve racking.

My 1 tip for Eureka Skydeck 88 is too make sure you visit the Skydeck when the weather is not so foggy. I mean who wants to go up 297 metres just to see nothing but FOG, so ensure check out the the weather forecast for the day.

— OVERALL THOUGHTS —

Honestly, Melbourne would definitely be my ideal world to live in, there is just so much to see and do. Although before you head over to Melbourne, please consider your outfit choices whilst packing, you will literally need to pack 4 seasons of clothing in your suitcase because you never know what the weather of Melbourne will be like.

THE TRUTH ABOUT CONTIKI

THE TRUTH ABOUT CONTIKI

In 2016 I decided to take a step further in my travelling journey and fly over to Europe and do a Contiki for 3 weeks.

WHY I DECIDED TO DO A CONTIKI?

I decided to do a Contiki because I believe it’s a great way to travel on a budget, experience many destinations and also meet life long friends. I needed a way to travel overseas independently but also have some guidance along the way. Perfect idea right?

HOW DO I KNOW IF A CONTIKI IS THE RIGHT THING FOR ME?

I am going to be 100% honest with you all. If you love partying and staying up until early hours of the morning  & then getting on the bus to travel to your next destination, then a Contiki may be your best option. Don’t get me wrong you can still go on a Contiki and not party with the others but if the majority of your group is going out, you may feel a bit isolated from the rest.

I am that type of person who loves to adventure, get a good night rest and wake up early enough to continue adventuring. Looking back at things now, maybe another option such as Topdeck, would of suited my needs a bit better.

Another aspect of a Contiki is that you have to make sure you read the additional activities (Me Time) that the Contiki has on offer. Doing the Me Time activities is optional but you must read through them carefully to ensure they are suitable for you. In other words why pay extra to do a wine tour if your not even interested in wine? (Yes I made that mistake) But like I mentioned earlier, when the majority of the group is doing the activity, you don’t want to feel like the outsider.

WHEN YOU FIRST MEET YOUR CONTIKI PALS

If any of you are shy and reserved like me, please make sure to read on as this could help you tremendously when meeting your Contiki group.

I initially met my Contiki group for the first time in London. When we met each other for the first time, we basically just had to sign a few papers and then we had time to introduce ourselves vaguely to each other. The next morning we all met again and got all ready to buckle up on our Contiki bus. Throughout the Contiki bus journey, we played a few “get to know each other” games, which was a great way to put a name to a face.

As time passes on the journey and you start to experience memories with your Contiki pals, everyone starts to ease up and become friends. You are all experiencing the mutual feelings of being overseas and being away from loved ones, so you will all share that same bond with one and another.

My biggest recommendation to you is to put yourself out there and mingle with your group. I know it can be so nerve racking especially if you are shy , but believe me If you don’t, it will be much harder to make friends on the tour.

When you are on a Contiki, you’re with your group pretty much 24/7 of the time, so if you are a very independent person and like to do your own thing a lot of the time, a Contiki can still be possible but maybe a little challenging. In saying this, when you have your have “free time”, you can definitely go explore and do your own thing, so don’t worry there are options to have your own time and space.

 THE HOTELS/HOSTELS

With my Europe Contiki, we mostly stayed in Hotels and Hostels. The rooms usually consisted with 2-4 people of the same sex. When I stayed in my first hotel in Amsterdam with a group of 4 girls, it was crowded and I definitely needed to get use to it. (Especially the bunk beds, I am that type of person who begs to sleep on the bottom).  Don’t worry too much about the size of the room, because the next hotel we stayed at was so spacious and could fit 100 people.

My biggest recommendation would be to wake up earlier then the rest of your room mates so you can hog the bathroom all to yourself. It’s a nightmare when everyone wants a shower at the same time and you have to be downstairs in 10 minutes. MORNING MADNESS !!

A LITTLE ADVICE

If it’s your first time travelling overseas with a Contiki, my advice to you is to make sure you have everything you need for your trip overseas. (A Contiki guide book usually comes a few weeks after purchasing your Contiki tour).

I understand how daunting it can be meeting everyone for the first time, so just remember to smile and introduce yourself to everyone. Please make sure you make the most of your time overseas. Just think to yourself, “I may never be back here again”, and hopefully that keeps you going and motivated to make the most of your precious adventures overseas.
